In the summer of 1963 my mother had to sleep at the Greyhound bus station for a week with two young sons. She had just left her husband and was scared and devastated. Thankfully , because of the values her mother taught her , she kept hope alive. Even though she didn’t know where her next meal was coming from – she knew she would survive and eventually thrive once again.
My mother was born knowing she was a Queen . Her philosophy was , ” if one door closes that means another is opening “. True to her philosophy , a week later a nice lady took her and my brothers to a Women’s Shelter owned and operated by nuns. It was located on Adam and Hoover in Los Angeles . She stayed there a year until she got on her feet. She would go on to help many woman by her example of living boldly , being unwilling to compromise her standards and values.
Fast forward 50 years . I have taken some of my mothers values. I am healer , fashion. designer , writer and spiritual teacher . I am deeply passionate about awakening , affirming , and empowering homeless woman.
